Knowledge about Mobile Battery
Service Life
Service life of a high-quality mobile battery is at least up to 12 months. However, the service life may be shortened due to following factors: incorrect charging method, overcharging, use of inferior charger, and use of inferior battery.
The longer the time is that a battery has been used for, the less the residual electric capacity is. That is to say, the time of service will be shortened. Generally, a battery that has been used for a year still has 70 per cent of electric capacity left at least.
Standby Time and Talk Time.
Pure talk time is just about one tenth of pure standby time. Power consumption will vary due to the different distance between mobile phone and transmitting station. The standby time will be gradually shortened due to phone talks.
There are 6 factors that can influence talk time and standby time. 1. Incorrect charging method 2. Location of the transmitting station and the distance: The longer the distance is, the more the power is consumed, and the shorter the standby time and talk time are. 3. Loss of self-discharge: Self-discharge will take place if a battery is left idle for several days after being charged well. 4. Model of mobile phone: Generally, a multifunctional mobile phone, such as, a phone with ultra large memory capacity, entails more power consumption, so a battery will last shorter. 5. Setup mode: A battery can offer the longest service under VOX mode and VOX mobile phone has outstanding energy saving function. There is no power consumption when you are just listening instead of talking. 6. Capacity and quality of battery: The thinner and the lighter the battery is, the less the electric capacity is, so the shorter the service life is, and the poorer the relative quality is.
Idle Battery
For any Ni-MH battery or Ni-Ca battery, if left idle, self-discharge will take place. Under normal room temperature, self-discharge rate is up to 1% to 3% per day for a Ni-MH battery and 1% to 2% per day for a Ni-Ca battery. In the meantime, the battery life will be shortened, but it doesn't mean the end of life. Usually, a battery will be “awaked” again to regain the original capacity after continuous charging and discharging for three to five times. On the bodies of many batteries is written a suggestion that a cyclic process of charging and discharging is necessary before the battery can regain the original capacity if it has been left idle for a long time.
Difference of 3 Kinds of Batteries
Comparatively, Ni-MH battery is better than Ni-Ca battery and Li battery is better than Ni-MH battery.
Ni-MH battery has a long service life. Ni-MH batteries last 40% longer than Ni-Ca batteries, but Li battery life is longest. You can enjoy a longer service life without replacement of battery. Li battery and Ni-MH battery have no problem of memory effect. Both of them are environmentally friendly. Due to no toxic chemical content, no special treatment is required when you throw it away. |
